Little Miss Inspired - New Online Community for Creative Women

Image
Hello everyone, happy Saturday! This blog post is my most exciting one yet, @mickeyandmillie__ and I have decided to create an online community for women who are looking to have careers in creative industries! So that includes anyone with backgrounds in English Literature, English Language, Marketing, Media, Journalism, PR etc. We wanted to create a space for people to network, make friends, share ideas, learn from industry professionals and most importantly learn some tips and tricks on how to improve your e mployability. (We launched a few weeks ago but I haven't officially announced this launch on my blog Instagram) Little Miss Inspired Our community is called Little Miss Inspired as we love what the word inspired directly means ' of extraordinary quality, as if arising from some external creative impulse'. We are all creatives, of extraordinary quality, driven to do what we love, no matter how difficult the industry is to get into. Millie is an English Literature and...

What's in my bag? - Staycation Essentials 2020

Hello everyone, happy Friday! Today's blog post is all about what affordable products I make sure I bring when I'm going away for the night or for a staycation! I have very pale skin and burn easily so I definitely have to adjust my bag depending on the weather, it is likely to be a large shoulder bag, so I can fit more helpful items in there. If you're looking for something, I'm likely to have it! Like a Mary Poppins bag, it's got everything that you'll ever need😂 If I've missed something useful, then give me a message, so I can add to it!  Essentials for a Staycation 1. Hand Sanitiser Can't ever leave my house without a Hand Sanitiser! I know there's loads wherever you go nowadays, but I always bring one just incase. The one I us e is just the basic  Cuticura Original Hand Gel ,  it's a nice size to fit into my bag and cheap too! 2. Protective Face Mask An obvious one, but a must! I always keep a spare one in my bag at all times, so incase I h...

'I'm feeling 22'...what does that even mean?

Hi everyone, Happy Friday! Today I will be talking about the things I have learned before turning the age of 22.  It was recently my 22nd birthday, and apart from feeling further away from my teenage years, I just didn't feel that excited for the year to come. It was a mixture of hope that this year was going to be 'my year', the year that my life will finally get going in the direction that I have been waiting for, but also disappointment as I haven't had any new interviews in a while so why would my luck suddenly change? I've been reading so many posts on social media with the same post-lockdown feeling, that it's set everyone back by such a great amount, and now we're all competing in a job market that is so over-crowded, with so many skilled professionals entering unemployment by no fault of their own.  However, there have been so many positives that I can take from this year, that have given me a much greater appreciation for life and the people that I ...

5 things I wish I knew before I graduated

Image
Hello everyone, hope you're all having a lovely day so far! I graduated last year with a 1st Class Degree in English Literature, I was over the moon with the result as I had worked so hard to achieve it. I was also the President of a Society and a Student Programme Representative. Therefore, I naively thought that it wouldn't be very long before I landed my first role to kick start my career and to fully begin adult life. Once I graduated, I realised that I had no industry experience, so I got accepted into an internship with a luxury magazine and worked there for 3 months. After that, I had a temporary contract, which gave me a decent salary for Christmas, within the Communications sector of a world-leading manufacturing company. So once that contract had finished, I found myself unemployed at the start of 2020, little did I know it was yet to be the worst time for me to be unemployed. COVID-19 struck, and here I am, months later, still unemployed. Due to this, thousands of...

Birthday Surprises - Lockdown Edition

Image
Hello everyone! I love birthdays, not just my own, but I love giving presents and making sure that those that I love feel spoiled on their special day. It is only one day of the year, and no amount of money in the world can match the feeling when you receive a personal and thoughtful gift. Therefore, my list is not filled with expensive, materialistic products, but with experiences and gestures that show the recipient that you care. Obviously if you are able and are eager to spend large amounts of money on your family and friends then I'm not saying that is a bad option, I'm just providing you with alternatives or things that you can get your loved one alongside your gift. Hope you enjoy! 1. Send them a thoughtful gift You could send your loved one a present through the post. Possibly a subscription for their favourite magazine, beauty box or flowers etc, so that they get a gift every month for how ever long you want, or even all year round. You could buy the classic flowers...

Fun Things To Do During Lockdown

Image
Hello again, in this blog I will be providing you with a list of fun things to do during lockdown, that I am hoping to complete myself, to hopefully maximise my positivity levels during this stressful time. Similar to my last blog post, I am hoping that anyone reading this is inspired to complete at least 1 and I hope the activities bring you the same happiness that they bring me. Hope you enjoy the post! 1. Games I absolutely love playing board games, or games of any kind, mainly because I am quite a competitive person. However, it also gives you and your household the chance to do something fun together that you would never usually get the time to do. For younger children, they can gain a lot of valuable skills from playing group games, even if they think it's just for fun. They can gain skills like teamwork, learning how to win or lose gracefully, patience, strategy, focus and communication, to name a few. You could also play online or on your Wii/Playstation/Xbox. Playing...

Productive Things To Do During Lockdown

Image
I hope everyone is having a lovely day, well as lovely as they can with the stress of what's going on in the world right now. I've created a list of activities that I thought could be helpful to those with a lot on their mind at the moment, so hopefully you can make the most of this time at home. I haven't completed all of these myself and I'm aware that not everyone will have access to items needed for some of the activities. It is my own personal list that I am hoping to achieve so thought I would share in case anyone needed the inspiration. Hope you enjoy reading and manage to complete at least 1! 1.  Donate The most productive and rewarding activity is to donate to others in need. If you are working from home, you could possibly donate the amount of money that you are saving on your commute to charity? Or the amount that you would usually spend on a haircut or at the salon? There are a variety of different challenges online and on social media that you could co...
